Shandra Ward is the and CEO/Principal Designer for Signature Designs Interiors + Textiles + Event Design Studio. This native Houstonian is a skilled design professional with an exceptional eye for detail. Inspired by her father, who is an engineer, her mother, who was extremely crafty and her Grandmother, who was very stylish, she knew she wanted to be a designer of all things beautiful.
After graduating from the Houston Community College with a degree in Interior Design, her passion for design and her eagerness to want to learn more led her to continue her education and receive a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Houston. Her formal art background, based in art history and design, had Ms. Ward beginning her career as a set designer for local theater companies, as well as designing storefront windows. Eventually, she decided to start her own design firm, Signature Designs.
Her approach is marked by the ability to create real living environments, rather than just “pretty spaces”. With an exceptional eye for detail, she is most inspired by the process of problem-solving and working methodically in accomplishing what seems impossible. Shandra approaches each project with a fresh perspective, The result is creating something delightful, unexpected and functional.
In addition to designing interiors, she has cultivated an equally impressive reputation as a skilled event designer, set stylist, and graphic designer. She has also created her own line of stylish party decor, Party Elements, that’s available online. Ms. Ward is currently working on creating her own line of stylish wallpaper designs.
When she’s not designing or treasure hunting–she loves to cook with her son, travel, and brunch with the girls.
