The Southern Stork created by owner Phenicia Woodard with the intent to convey the warmth and joy her birthing services would offer. Ignited by a passion for all thing pregnancy and birth, Phenicia received her Birth Doula training through DONA International a recognized Doula certifying organization. Phenicia is a senior biology major at Prairie View A&M University and has dreams of growing her birthing services as a Nurse Midwife.
In the United States black women are at at higher risks of maternal mortality and cesarean section. The Southern Storks mission is to provide emotional , educational , and physical support to the birthing woman in an effort to protect as many mothers as possible from these outcomes. Every mother deserves to look back on her birthing experience with the joy and appreciation due to such a miraculous moment.
